LK Digital captures important moments and shares stories that bring legacies to life while giving back to communities.

LK Digital creates a collaborative experience by using photos and videos as tools to help you disseminate the impactful stories and diverse perspectives you want to share.

By prioritizing projects centered on youth engagement, community building, and events in higher education, LK Digital aims to support authors, speakers, facilitators, educators, and organizations in sharing their stories and documenting experiences.

LK Digital was created out of a need for a communications expert who could provide holistic support ranging from using a camera lens to a DEI lens. Part of what sets LK Digital apart is its focus on creating a comfortable, transparent, and collaborative experience with all clients, no matter what they can pay or how big or small the project is.

Laura Kingston, originally from the East Coast, spent a decade as a communications expert for college access and equity programs at the University of Kansas. As a digital storyteller, she leans on photography for authentic storytelling.

She holds a bachelor's degree in mass media and communication from Champlain College in Vermont and a master’s degree in digital content strategy from the University of Kansas School of Journalism. Her academic focus has always been on authentic storytelling in digital spaces, including a master’s thesis on using social media to build social and cultural capital for first-generation college students.

For years, Laura was regularly hired by friends, colleagues, and community members to document engaging community events through photography and videos, facilitate workshops and training, and provide consultation on strategic communication - including social media, DEI public relations, and website building.

In March 2023, Laura unified this range of work under one identity, pursuing LK Digital LLC as a full-time job.

Now, Laura enjoys creating social media content and photographing authors, speakers, and facilitators as they help build thriving communities and inspire youth.

Valued Communities.

I make these acknowledgments to do more than recognize individuals and communities. I hope it gives you further insight into my values and who I create spaces for.

In addition to learning about oppression and privilege, the history of colonization, and the cultures with who I collaborate, I recognize that it is not my job to mold or tell your story, but to be guided by what you want to shine a spotlight on.

I believe in centering students and their authentic experiences in every aspect of storytelling to bring about systemic and institutional change.

Thank you to the students who have trusted me. Stepping in front of a camera is never easy, and even harder when it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience like graduation portraits.

Please never let anyone change how you want to be presented, take ownership over your story, and use you just to meet a quota of diversity shots. If this happens, I will listen to you and step in when you want.
